Thinking Challenges

Thinking challenges in the form of puzzles and other fun activities can get your creative juices flowing before brainstorming.

To start off any brainstorming session it is often a good idea to have some thinking challenges, puzzles, or some sort of fun activity to relax the mind and get the creative juices flowing. This is true even if you are going to do some on-your-own brainstorming.

Ball of Whacks, Roger von Oech, puzzle challenge, von oech

Don't let its smooth and simple exterior fool you. This puzzle has many interesting options. The thirty magnetic pieces are all the same. Each piece is a pyramid and the main form when all the pieces are put together into a 'ball' is a rhombic triacontahedron. There are many other shapes the pieces can form and there is the challenge!

Play Dough and Modeling Clay

Play dough comes from the originator and from a few other companies in many colorful choices and many sizes of reclosable cans. The originator calls it Play-Doh® and all kinds of play dough can be found at Amazon and online or local toy stores.

Building Toys

Building with small parts is fun an engages creativity. Consider sets of click clacks or a gears toy or Legos®.
