Keep Your Idea Journal Handy at All Times
Purchase a small lined or unlined journal or notebook, something that will easily fit in your pocket. Label it "My Idea Journal." Keep it handy to jot down notes using either keywords or short phrases so you will remember but are not writing long and tedious paragraphs.
An unlined journal is better if you like to use mind maps or draw diagrams.
Every idea is worth noting. As with brainstorming sessions, note down all ideas so that later you can explore how noted items can trigger more ideas or combine with each other to build something even better.
What if you wake up at night with a terrific idea?
The idea is so terrific that you say to yourself you will remember it in the morning. Morning comes and what you remember is that you woke up thinking about a great solution to that problem you are working on. Now for the life of you -- you can't remember it.
Our dreams tap into our subconscious which keeps trying to solve problems that are bothering us.
During some spare time,
use individual brainstorming and mind mapping techniques to add to your idea journal
to trigger ideas for any projects or problems that are on your mind.
What if you are driving or just not able to safely write in your idea journal?
Of course, you should not do something that could be dangerous or risky. You can record ideas by hands free calls to your own number or a recording device.
